Please note that due to essential roof repairs to the Visitor Centre in Coole Park Nature Reserve, the centre will be CLOSED from Tuesday 18th March for approximately 4 weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated with any changes to this schedule. Coole Park Tearooms will not be impacted by the repairs and will operate as normal.
Friday 21st February 2025 marks International Tour Guide Day. Did you know that in Coole Park Nature Reserve, our experienced guides offer Guided Walks free of charge? Why not avail of this family-friendly service and join one of our walks this Friday at 11am or 3pm to learn more about the cultural and natural significance of this rare nature reserve. We're delighted to be able to reschedule this talk in our Visitor Centre's AV Room on 'Richard, the Forgotten Grandson', by one of our NPWS guides. Join us on Saturday 22nd February at 3pm. for a short presentation on Richard Gregory, the often forgotten grandson of Augusta, Lady Gregory, and brother to the more well-known 'Me and Nu'. For Valentine's Day on Friday 14th February, take a stroll through our enchanting Nature Reserve and discover our love hearts 'in the air' featuring some love poems from the long ago literary folk of Coole, and the love lives of its present day inhabitants.
The Nature Reserve will re-open to the public on Saturday the 8th of February. Clean-up operations, in the wake of Storm Éowyn, have been ongoing by National Parks & Wildlife Service staff to make the Reserve safe for the public to enjoy again. While most main trails have now been cleared of debris, some have yet to be reached by our team; these trails will remain closed until they can be cleared. Due to the extensive damage caused by Storm Éowyn and the danger of fallen and unstable trees, the public are advised that Coole - Garryland Nature Reserve will remain CLOSED until further notice.
